DCC, GDF advance to GCA final

AFTER securing first-innings points in their respective semi-final matches in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) first-division two-day tournament, Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) have advanced to the final.At DCC, Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), resuming on 172-5 in pursuit of 301, were bowled out for 217, within an hour after the lunch interval.
Overnight batsman Devon Lord failed to add to his overnight eight. His dismissal saw the demise of the remaining batsmen without much resistance. However, fellow overnight batsman Ronaldo Ali-Mohammed was left unbeaten on 29.
Left-arm unorthodox spinner Totoram Bishun finished with 4-49, while Paul Wintz took 3-46 to give their side a lead of 84.
Batting a second time, DCC reached 156-3 when play was called-off after tea.
Brian Sattaur went without scoring, followed by Kevon Boodie (05), but West Indies Under-19 batsman Tevin Imlach and Christopher Barnwell added 111 for the third wicket before Vishaul Singh removed Barnwell for a well composed 68, with seven fours and a six.
Imlach ended with an unbeaten 70, which included 10 fours. Sherfane Rutherford was the other not out batsman on 10.
Over at the GDF ground, GNIC were bundled out for 127 after resuming on 69-5; Kurt Lovell topscored with 35 and Gajanand Singh made 30.
Leg-spinner Andre O’Neil 3-7, Kevin Ramdeen 2-4 and Colin Hamer 2-28 where the chief destroyers for the soldiers.
With a lead of 64, GDF batting a second time reached 204-5.
