Cuban woman, 61, robbed, shot on Regent St.

A SIXTY-ONE-year-old Cuban woman was on Wednesday around noon shot and robbed opposite City Hall, Regent Street, Georgetown.The woman has been identified as Maria Elena Puig, who resides in Laluni Street, Queenstown, when in Guyana.
According to a police source, the woman was shot in her right arm and robbed of a handbag, which contained G$5,000. The robbery occurred in front of Stan’s Variety Store on Regent Street, north of City Hall.
The gunmen made good their escape on a motorcycle. Puig was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) and later discharged. No arrest was made up to late Wednesday afternoon.
The police were unable to identity the perpetrators from surveillance cameras.
