Criminal gang dismantled in West Dem.

Police in ‘D’ Division (West Demerara/East Bank Essequibo) have come in for high praise after dismantling a criminal gang which had been terrorizing residents.Police have described the men as seasoned criminals who previously had been involved in several robberies and other crimes.

Information reaching this newspaper revealed that three suspects from Riverview, Ruimveldt, Georgetown were apprehended in “D” Division on Monday, and are in police custody pending institution of robbery-under-arms charges.

The gang is allegedly responsible for robbing a businessman on June 23 at La Retraite, West Bank Demerara (WBD).
According to reports, the men tied up the businessman with duct tape after entering his home. They proceeded to steal electrical items and relieved him of cash. The businessman, who prefers to remain anonymous, was at home alone at the time of the robbery.
