A CRABWOOD Creak man accused of assaulting his spouse was yesterday refused bail by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry after she heard that he was being investigated by the police for an alleged armed robbery.It is alleged that Ronand George on May 22 at Staff Hill, Kwakwani, unlawfully assaulted Orleana Clestine. The man denied the charge after it was read to him.
Prosecutor Shawn Gonzales stated that the couple live together and share a relationship.
Gonzales in his objection noted that the defendant has a pending matter at the Kwakwani Magistrate’s Court and he is considered a flight risk since the police are currently investigating George in connection with an armed robbery.
George was remanded to prison until June 19 when he will appear at the Kwakwani Magistrate’s Court.
