FURNITURE giant COURTS solidified support for this Sunday’s CARICOM 10k Road Race with a donation of $500 000 yesterday during a simple presentation ceremony at the corporation’s Main Street branch. The CARICOM 10k, an annual event on the athletics calendar, is the result of a collaboration between the CARICOM Secretariat, Ministry of Education – Department of Culture, Youth and Sport and the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG). And now COURTS has come on board to support the initiative.
COURTS is no stranger to supporting athletics events, being the sponsor of the annual COURTS 10K Road Race. The CARICOM 10K, a much anticipated feature which coincides with the meeting of the Conference of CARICOM Heads of Government, is being held under the theme: ‘Promoting Peaceful and Healthy Societies’.
According to a press release from the company, COURTS’ support for the event is “in keeping with its commitment to the continuous promotion of healthy lifestyles and is happy to be associated with another mega 10k Road Race.”
“COURTS is proud to be associated with the CARCOM 10km race with a contribution of $500 000 as the brand endeavours to take the healthy living campaign Caribbean-wide and further afield,” the release said.
The race is set to start off in front of the CARICOM Secretariat in Liliendaal at 06:00hrs and is scheduled to end in the National Park.
In addition to the main 10km event, the event will also feature athletes from schools and clubs. The race promises to be a very exciting one with great cash prizes, trophies and medals up for grabs
The company took the opportunity to invite members of the public to be a part of this Sunday’s event.
