Three employees, other man found in employer’s home
FOUR men, facing a joint felony charge before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, were allowed $100,000 bail, each, yesterday.
Carl Tudor, 22, of Lot 66 Daisy Street, West Ruimveldt; Shane Tyson, 23, of Lot 92 East La Penitence and Sheldon Douglas, 32, of Lot 59 William Street, Kitty, all in Georgetown and Elton Bovell, 25, of Lot 329 Mocha/Arcadia, East Bank Demerara, all pleaded not guilty to the offence.
It is alleged that, on April 12, they broke and entered the dwelling house of Cecil Pickerson with intent to commit a crime.
Two lawyers Mr. Adrian Thompson, for Tyson and Mr. George Thompson, for Douglas, both claimed that the defendants they represent were subjected to Police brutality.
Third Defence Counsel, Mr. Lawrence Harris, representing Bovell, also requested reasonable bail but Tudor was unrepresented.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant had secured his home and gone out but received information that his house was broken into and immediately returned there.
The Prosecutor said Pickerson found all four defendants in his house in an area where he usually stores energy drinks, three of them being his employees.
The magistrate ordered the Police to investigate the allegation of brutality and the four defendants are to be back in Court tomorrow.
