A POLICE constable on Friday appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan charged with two counts of corrupt transaction. Colin Rodney, 33, of Lot 17 Joseph Pollydore Street, Lodge, was granted $30,000 bail after denying the charges. It is alleged that on June 15 at the Georgetown Seawall, he engaged in a corrupt transaction by accepting money from Hushan Mana and Laeede Gopie.
Rodney’s lawyer Patrice Henry requested that his client be released on self-bail since Rodney was still on active duty. Police Prosecutor Corporal Deniro Jones did not disclose the facts in court, neither did he object to the police constable being granted bail.
Constable Rodney was ordered to post $15,000 bail on each count and will return to court on October 19.
