CEVON’S Waste Management has presented gym equipment to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), effectively boosting resources there. This equipment serves to boost resources available at the hospital’s gym, located at the south-eastern end of the upper floor of the Accident and Emergency Building on Quamina Street, Georgetown. The initiative was the brainchild of Mr Mark Lewis, Cevon’s Head of Security, and the donation was received by Chief Executive Officer of the GPHC, Mr Allan Johnson, last Thursday.
Johnson expressed gratitude for the donation, and said it was timely, as the GPHC continues to place emphasis on the benefits of exercise to good health.
The gym is being used by both technical and non-technical staffers of the GPHC, who understand the benefits of exercise to good health. Benefits to be derived through regular exercise include control of weight, strengthening heart and lungs, reducing risk of cardiovascular disease, lowering blood pressure, improving cholesterol levels, reducing risk of contraction of Type 2 Diabetes and metabolic syndrome, reducing risk of developing colon and breast cancers, strengthening bones and muscles, boosting endurance, improving mental health mood, and adding zest to emotions and sex life.
