Guyana secure wins over Barbados, Aruba

GUYANA’S Badminton team at the Caribbean Badminton Team Championships 2016 over the weekend successfully disposed of Barbados and Aruba and will now move on to the knockout phase.On Sunday, Guyana defeated Barbados 3-2 with Jonathan Mangra beating Shae Martin: 21-13, 15-21, 21-19, while in the Girls’ singles
Ambika Ramraj lost to Amanda Haywood 6-21, 9-21.
In the Boys doubles, Narayan Ramdhani & Jonathan Mangra defeated Jehu Gaskin & Keshem Moore 21-15, 21-10. In the Girls doubles Priyanna Ramdhani & Ambika Ramraj whipped Cheyanna Burnett-Griffith: 21-14, 21-6.
In the Mixed doubles Narayan Ramdhani & Priyanna Ramdhani lost to Shae Martin & Amanda Haywood 16-21, 16-21.
Meanwhile yesterday, Guyana blanked Aruba 5-0. In the Boys singles, Narayan Ramdhani crushed Efraim Van Der Linden: 21-7, 21-4, while Priyanna Ramdhani trounced Thyrza Van Der Linden: 21-10, 21-10 on the distaff end.
In Boys Doubles action, Narayan Ramdhani & Jonathan Mangra: thrashed Tim Hankark & Efraim van Der Linden: 21-3, 21-5 while Priyanna Ramdhani & Ambika Ramraj bettered Leyenne Schairer & Thyrza Van Der Linden: 21-8, 21-15 in the Girls’ division. Jonathan Mangra & Ambika Ramraj also teamed up in the Mixed doubles to demolish Jai Lalwani & Leyenne Schairer: 21-4, 21-6
The Guyana Badminton Team are currently playing in the Caribbean Badminton Team Championships which started on Monday August 22 2016 at the Centro Deportivo Sports Hall.
They faced Suriname late last evening.
