COMMISSIONER of the Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC), James Singh has issued a lawyer’s letter to Capitol News after the newscast suggested that he rented his property to Bai Shan Lin International Forest Development Inc.Attorney Roopnarine Satram, in the letter to Capitol News said, “The false and malicious statements were calculated to cause and have indeed caused our client irreparable damage both in his professional and personal life. The said publication was intended to convey to the public that our client has a corrupt relationship with Bai Shan Lin from which he derives financial benefits to condone the alleged illegalities being committed by Bai Shan Lin and reported in the press.”
It was further stated that in or around the month of April, 2013, Singh advertised his property (located at Ogle, East Coast Demerara) for sale or rent in several issues of the Guyana Chronicle Newspaper.  Satram further said several persons responded to the advertisement, and the property was eventually rented to and still is rented to a person who is not operating in the Forestry Sector.
It was firmly stated that Singh’s property is not rented to Bai Shan Lin.
Satram said should Capitol News fail to do as instructed within the three days, legal advice on the matter will be given to Singh and actions will be taken according to his instructions.
