THE body of a fisherman was discovered at around 19:30 hrs in the backlands of Number 68 Village, East Berbice Corentyne.Dead is Levan Chanderpaul. He was discovered with his hands and feet bound and with marks of violence about his body.

According to a police source, the body was discovered by a young man who was making his way out of the backdam; the source revealed that Chanderpaul was before the courts for threatening language and a simple larceny charge in which he was schedule to make a court appearance on August 23 last, but was instead represented by his mother.

He was also charged with robbery under arms and was remanded to prison.

The Police have since launched an investigation.
