BioTrackTHC collaborates with Jamaican Universities –on medical ganja tracking technology

BIOTrackTHC™, the leading provider of seed-to-sale software tracking solutions for ganja businesses and government regulators, yesterday announced partnerships that provide the company’s seed-to-sale medical ganja tracking technology and training to the University of Technology, Jamaica and the University of the West Indies at Mona, Jamaica.According to a release from Cannabis Global Initiative (CGI), the two universities are growing medical ganja for research purposes, and are the only entities legally allowed to grow ganja in the country until business licenses are approved.
“We are proud to be working with both of Jamaica’s institutions of higher learning to help bolster knowledge and infrastructure for the legal medical ganja industry in Jamaica,” said Patrick Vo, co-CEO, BioTrackTHC. “It’s a mutual education process, whereby our company is learning about the needs of Jamaica while sharing our technology and expertise that is leading the way in the rapidly expanding U.S. market.”
“Our goal,” he said, “is to provide a solution that is tailored to meet the specific needs and priorities of the Jamaican people and their new medical ganja industry. We look forward to the results of their research.”
Both universities have already begun implementing and training on BioTrackTHC’s system so they can begin documenting and tracking the medical ganja throughout its lifecycle within the programme: Plant growth, harvesting and drying, laboratory testing, and patient trials.
The chain-of-custody system will ensure that every plant and every gram of medical ganja material is properly accounted for and may provide a model for the administration and oversight of Jamaica’s responsible commercial ganja industry.
Finally, the students at the universities, armed with their training and experience on the BioTrackTHC system, may provide the foundation for the technical support and operational jobs that will be newly created by and critical to a comprehensive infrastructure for the island’s medical ganja economy.

“Indeed, we at UTech are pleased to be working with BioTrackTHC on this important medical ganja tracking initiative,” said Professor Colin Gyles, Deputy President, University of Technology. “It’s the start of a new era for Jamaica that will set the stage for responsible use and accountable monitoring from seed-to-sale of ganja and its medical products within a well-regulated research and development framework.”

BioTrackTHC’s seed-to-sale tracking system has helped facilitate a reliable, compliant ganja industry in a growing number of U.S. states. This includes a version of the system implemented by state regulators and a separate system for business customers. BioTrackTHC’s government-managed tracking system is currently being contracted by regulators in the states of Washington and New Mexico, and its commercial system is used by business customers in more than 1,100 locations in 18 U.S. states, Canada and South America. The company is donating the technology and training to the two universities.

Cannabis Business Executive magazine named BioTrackTHC’s CEO, Steven Siegel, as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the industry.
