Biker dies after colliding with horse

THIRTY-NINE-year-old Michael Leitch, of Rose Hall Town died after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a horse on the Portuguese Quarters Public Road, at Port Mourant , Corentyne.His pillion rider Seema Looknauth, of Lot 42 Williamsburg Village, also of the Corentyne was also injured and is being treated at the Port Mourant Hospital. On Independence Night, at about 22:00hrs, the couple were on motorcycle CF 2317, when a horse ran across the road into the path of the motorcycle which caused a collision. As a result of the collision, Leitch lost control of the bike and slammed into motorcar HC 602, owned by Mickey Sonny. Sonny’s car was at the time parked on the northern foot path.
Leith and Looknauth were picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the nearby Port Mourant Hospital, where doctors on duty pronounced the 39-year-old dead on arrival. Leitch’s body is at the Port Mourant Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem. The police are investigating.
