BCB Inter Zone U-15 cricket…. New Amsterdam/East Canje and Lower Corentyne record victories

NEW Amsterdam/Canje/East Bank continued their winning ways with a close two-wicket win over West Berbice, while Lower Corentyne defeated Upper Corentyne in the second round of the JZ Mohamed inter zone Under-15 cricket tournament organized by the Berbice Cricket Board.Played at the D’Edward ground, West Bank, Berbice, the hosts won the toss and took first strike, but crumbled for a modest 71 in 22 overs. All-rounder Nigel Deodat was the only batsman to score double figure making, 15.
All-rounder Aaron Beharry led the way with the ball, claiming 4-12. He got support from his skipper Jevan Schultz with 3-12 and Nicky Noble 3-13.
In reply, New Amsterdam/Canje/East Bank were set back by some disciplined bowling from the West Berbice side. Only Beharry and opener Jarron France with 23 each made scores of significance.
They eventually reached 72-8. Bowling for the West Berbice side, Seon Glasgow (3-10) and Deodat (2-11) were the most successful bowlers.
Over at the No. 72 Cut and Load ground in the Upper Corentyne area, the home team lost to Lower Corentyne, but no scores were available up to press time. However, the scores will follow at a subsequent press release.
