THE Blairmont Cricket Club (BCC) received vital support last Friday when local beverage company Banks DIH Limited threw its support towards the Roy Fredericks T20 tournament.
The two-day tournament is set for March 19 and 20 at the Blairmont Estate ground.At the simple presentation ceremony, Beverages Brand Manager Clive Pellew said the business entity is pleased to be a part of the two-day event.
In accepting the cheque, president of BCC, Shabeer Baksh thanked the beverage giant for its support.
The two-day event will see ten top teams tussle for supremacy namely Cotton Tree Die Hard, Young Warriors, Rose Hall Youth and Sports Club, Bath Underdogs, Blairmont Blazers, Skeldon Gladiators, West Berbice Super Kings, Black Bush Rangers, Bush Lot Strikers and Lusignan Emperors.
Other attractions for the tournament will be dominoes and volleyball competitions, Cartoon characters, ice cream and air horns will be given away, Tassa drumming, trampoline, bouncy castle, live commentary and one-man band will complete other entertainment activities.
The fundraiser will look to address the main concern of the club – that is covers for the pitch. The club also aims to promote a Spelling Bee and a Math Quiz for Grade 6 students in Region 5, to prepare them for the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA), with the blessing of the Ministry of Education, in the latter part of the year.
