Badal to chair GPL board -other state boards also appointed

BUSINESSMAN Robert Badal has been appointed to chair the board of directors of the Guyana Power and Light Incorporated (GPL). This was announced by Minister of State Joseph Harmon on Friday at his post-Cabinet press briefing. Badal is the owner and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Pegasus Hotel in Kingston, Georgetown and also Director of Guyana Stockfeeds Incorporated.
Harmon said Cabinet has approved the appointments of members of several state boards within the Ministries of Public Infrastructure and Public Security.
Attorney Stephen Fraser will chair the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) board, while the Demerara Harbour Bridge board will be chaired by Xavier Hussain.
Under the Ministry of Public Security, Cabinet has approved the appointment of Murray Greenidge as Chairman of the Guyana Prison Service Training Board. At the same time Dr. Simpson Da Silva will head the Guyana Prison Service Agriculture Development Board, while Mrs. Alona Sankar and Dr. Melissa Ifill will be chairpersons of the Guyana Prison Service Recruitment Board and the Guyana Prison Service Sentence Management Board, respectively.
Additionally, The Firearm Licensing Board will be chaired by Roopnarine Sookhai. Other members include Dr. Bhiro Harry, Mrs. Kim Kyte-John and Mr. Christina Jagmohan.
Last week, the Civil Aviation and Sea Defence boards were instituted.
