Armed bandits rob Popeye’s Vlissengen Road outlet of $1.1M

TRAGEDY struck the Vlissengen Road outlet of Popeye’s Chicken when two bandits, one of whom was armed with a gun, robbed the outlet of $1.1M late on Friday evening.
This misfortune hit the Popeye’s franchise shortly after it would have opened its new outlet at Camp and Lamaha Streets in Georgetown.

Reports are that two men of African descent, one of whom was armed with a shotgun, entered the fast food outlet from the door located at the left and demanded cash from the supervisor on duty at the time, Mahendra Persaud.

When Persaud hesitated to comply with the bandits’ demands, they shouted: “Pass de F%#king money!!” as they took away the money from the supervisor and made good their escape on foot.

A staffer on duty then, who wants to remain anonymous, told the Chronicle that after the bandits came in with the gun and demanded money, she went to the back of the restaurant and sat quietly. She said she heard the bandits demanding the money before they escaped.

“Is a good thing no one was shot and injured,” she said. “Thank God everyone is alive. I hope the surveillance camera provides some clear footage of the bandits. I didn’t even see their faces because I was scared. We hope that those bandits would be arrested soon,” the staffer said.

The police are actively investigating this robbery, and are hoping to arrest the bandits as soon as possible.
