Alpha United are inaugural GFF/Banks National Premier League champs

ALPHA UNITED played unbeaten in 15 matches to become the inaugural Guyana Football Federation (GFF)/Banks Beer National Premier League champions and in the process, have earned $3M for their success.Alpha played 15 teams in the 16-team tournament and won all their matches to accumulate 45 points, scoring a massive 62 goals and conceding a mere seven to end with a plus 55 goal difference, with Gregory `Jackie Chan’ Richardson leading their scoring, netting 20 of the goals in the 15 matches.
He was followed closely by Guyana Defence Force’s (GDF) Delroy Fraser who scored 19 goals in 15 matches to place his team in second position in the points standing and earn for the Army Boys, $2M with the 34 points they gained.
They won 10 of their 15 matches, lost two and drew three, one of which they won in the resulting penalty shoot-out, scoring 40 goals and conceding 14 to end the tournament with a plus 26 goal difference.
BK Western Tigers finished third with 34 points from their 15 matches and will receive $1M, having won 11 games, lost three and drew one which they lost in the penalty shoot-out, scoring 29 goals and conceding 14.
Buxton United finished fourth in the tournament with 29 points from nine wins, four losses and two drawn games, while they scored 23 goals and conceded 15 to earn $500 000 for their efforts.
According to a GFF source, Santos, BV/Triumph United, Mahaica Determinators and Young Achievers will be relegated for the next tournament.
Young Achievers ended the 16-team tournament with a mere three points, having secured one win and 14 losses, Mahaica Determinators finished with 15 points from four wins, eight losses and three drawn games, all of which they lost in the penalty shoot-out.
BV/Triumph ended with 17 points from four wins, eight losses and three drawn games, two of which they won in the penalty shoot-out and Santos secured 17 points from three wins, seven losses and five drawn games, three of which they won in the penalty shoot-out.
