All-Star game raises US$10 000 for Education Foundation

BASSETERRE, St Kitts (CMC) – The All-Star charity game staged last week by the Caribbean Premier League has raised US$10 000 (EC$27 000) for the St Kitts-Nevis National Education Foundation, organisers have announced.Played at Warner Park last Thursday, the Twenty20 match featured the likes of cricket legends Sir Viv Richards and Brian Lara, along with former West Indies fast bowler, Ian Bishop, and ex-Manchester United star, Dwight Yorke.
“The night proved a massive success – bringing fans, players, legends and supporters together to enjoy the Biggest Party in Sport while raising money for this fantastic cause,” CPL’s chief executive, Damien O’Donohoe said.
“We were joined by some great names from the worlds of cricket and entertainment who made it an unforgettable evening. I’d like to thank everyone who took part for their support and I’m proud that the money raised will have an impact on changing lives for young people in St Kitts and Nevis.”
The St Kitts-Nevis National Education Foundation is a non-profit organisation which works to provide disadvantaged students with educational opportunities.
Its goal is to provide 30 scholarships to disadvantaged students throughout the Federation.
Last year, the CPL donated proceeds from the charity game to three charities – Special Olympics St Kitts and Nevis, St Kitts and Nevis Association of Persons with Disabilities and the Creative Youth Academy.
The CPL, the Caribbean’s marquee Twenty20 tournament, is in its third year and runs from June 20 to July 26.
