ALCOHOL PLAYS A BIG PART IN TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS

Dear Editor

HAVING read Mr. Dial’s column in the Sunday Chronicle (11 September) regarding causes of accidents and recommendation’s, I was left breathless for a second or two. Mr. Dial made no mention of the major contributions that alcohol abuse has in relation to a significant number of traffic accidents. Only today I read in the newspapers of two accidents: one on Sheriff Street and the other at #49 Village, Corentyne, in which drivers of one or more vehicles were apparently inebriated.
I trust Mr. Dial is not being protective of the Alcohol Business and its consumers!
Maybe it is time all cars be outfitted with the sensory equipment/technology that is available, even though costly, which will cause a car not to start if the driver reeks of alcohol.
