AFC to attend PNCR’s congress

…says presence a sure sign of the “unbreakable bond of the coalition”

THE Alliance For Change (AFC) has announced that it will be joining other coalition allies in attending the opening session of the People’s National Congress Reform’s (PNCR) Congress tomorrow, stating that their presence there will assure Guyanese and the diaspora of the “unbreakable bond of our six-party coalition.”The AFC also sent its fraternal greeting to the PNCR. “Together, in a spirit of mutual trust and respect, we have embarked on a united political journey for the greater good of a better Guyana. Despite many attempts in the past, the political unity demonstrated with evident strength today among the coalition partners had eluded our beloved country for decades,” the AFC said.

According to the party, previous leaders here experimented with various forms of coalition-building and had advanced ideas for lasting political unity, all of which remained elusive before the formation of the historic APNU+AFC electoral front and subsequently Coalition Government. “These past efforts, upon which we have built the Coalition Government, included critical support, National Patriotic Front, caretaker government of national reconstruction among others.”

The AFC also congratulated His Excellency, President Brig. David Granger on being returned, unopposed, as Leader of the PNC. “President Granger’s re-election gives Guyana the assurance that our coalition will move forward with a common agenda to build a clean and green economy under strong, stable, mature, responsible and visionary leadership. The AFC wishes the PNC leadership, membership and all delegates a successful and peaceful congress and looks forward to working closely with the party in achieving the good life for all Guyanese,” the AFC statement read.
