The first presentation was done By Commander Hicken himself, who focused on the preparation of disciplinary notices and he was followed by the likes of O/C Crime Jessemy; OC/ Traffic Ashram; OC/ Court Superintendent Officer Fowler; O/C Complaints and Firearms Robinson; O/C Operations Room Kilkenny; ‘A’ Division Secretariat Scipio and the various divisional and sub -divisional officers.
Hicken in an interview with the Chronicle explained that the move was one which seeks to build on the strengths and strengthen the weaknesses within the various areas of operation in the division.
It was also highlighted as a means of addressing the issues of road fatalities; strengthening community relations and partnerships; building intelligence capacity; empowering young people; changing public perceptions; and increasing the services of the police to the public.
The seminar was held at the Police Officers Training facility on Camp Road. This is the first of its kind for the year and there are expected to be follow-up sessions, Hicken told the Guyana Chronicle. (Leroy Smith)
