The collision occurred as both parties were crossing the busy Rock View Junction. The left front of the car was badly damaged while the motorcycle front axle broke off from the bike.

Reports indicate that Belinda George and Davis Williams died on the spot, while Henry George died around 10:30 hrs at the Annai Airstrip as he was being prepared for a medevac flight out of the area.
Henry George sustained injuries to his head and feet while his wife’s hands and feet were also broken. She also sustained head injuries. Williams, who was riding the motorcycle, got the brunt of the impact and sustained injuries to his head, neck and feet.
Mike Williams of the North Rupununi District Development Board (NRDDB) told this newspaper from Annai yesterday morning that the roadway was usually busy and persons sometimes disregard the traffic laws while driving along the roadway.

Williams, who is a cousin of one of the victims, recounted that he was broadcasting at the Radio Paimowak radio station near Annai around 8 am when he received news of the incident. He said he ventured to the scene where persons gathered out of curiosity.
He said Henry George was taken to the airstrip in an unconscious state and he succumbed to his injuries as an aircraft attached to the Remote Area Medical (RAM) was on its way to Annai to take him to Lethem. The bodies of the deceased were taken to the Lethem Hospital around midday yesterday for post-mortem examinations.
The driver of the car is in police custody at Annai.
