A Ministry of Public Health official has confirmed that two new positive cases of the Coronavirus have been recorded at the Palms Geriatric Home on Brickdam.
This brings the total number of cases recorded at the facility to 4.That number includes the case of a 64-year-old man who died on Monday from complications attributed to the virus.
Reports are that two staff members who work at the facility tested positive for the virus.The Guyana Chronicle understands that the new cases have caused much worry among front line staff currently working at the facility.

On Friday, this newspaper confirmed that an elderly man, who was a close friend of the man who died on Monday, tested positive for the virus.
More residents of the facility are being tested for the virus, and this publication understands that additional staff of the unit where the cases have been recorded, have been tested on Friday for COVID-19.They have since been placed on quarantine.
Director of Social Services at the Ministry of Social Protection, Wentworth Tanner had said on Thursday, that once it was found that the 64-year-old man was positive, the Health Emergency Operating Centre (HEOC) deployed a team to commence contact tracing.
To date, Guyana has recorded 97 positive cases of the Coronavirus. Of that number, 35 persons have recovered from the virus while 10 persons have died from complications attributed to the virus.
