Guyana Carnival 2020 postponed to 2021

The entire world is undergoing major postponements, shutdowns, and cancellations due to the concerns over Coronavirus (COVID-19). Both small and large scale events have been banned and social distancing is highly recommended to reduce the spread of the virus.?

As the Guyana Carnival Committee empathises with all that is happening globally, after consulting with partners and stakeholders, the committee announced in a statement that it has regretfully come to the inevitable conclusion to cancel Guyana Carnival 2020.

The Committee is now working to a new date of May 19 -27, 2021, however, the 2020 theme will remain the same for 2021.

Patrons who have registered for a costume or have purchased event tickets were advised that those will remain valid.

“You will be able to continue to make partial payments on your costumes and event tickets from now until the 2021 carnival period. We’ve got you covered! We are hopeful that this pandemic will be over soon and life will return to normal. We know that you will definitely be in need of some fun in the sun, soca and vibes to cure your carnival tabanca. Rest assured that when the tabanca bump raises we will provide you with the perfect remedy,” the committee said in a release.

Persons can stay tuned for flashbacks and upcoming events leading up to Guyana Carnival 2021 on social media and website.?

The team urges all to stay home, wash their hands and adhere to social distancing.
