ON Thursday, February 20, 2020, Magistrate Rushell Liverpool, at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s court, released a 32-year-old welder on $300,000 bail for a gun and ammunition charge.

Terrence Baker of North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, denied the charge which alleged that, on February 17, 2020, at Trans Guyana check-in counter at Eugene F. Correia International Airport, Ogle, he had, in his possession, one .32 pistol, without being the holder of a firearm licence.

He also denied that, on the same date and location, he had, in his possession, 2 rounds of .32 ammunition, without being the holder of a firearm licence.

His attorney, Bernard DaSilva, made an application for bail, which was granted by the Magistrate at $300,000 with reporting conditions.

The attorney contended that the police file was still incomplete since a statement was still outstanding. The case will be recalled on March 13, 2020.

The Guyana Chronicle was made to understand that, on the day in question, Barker was an out-going passenger on an aircraft which was destined for Port Kaituma.

However, at the check-in counter, his bag was searched by police ranks and the firearm was found inside. He however denied ownership and knowledge.
