Our theme this year is Guyana Rising, the potential of eco-friendly mining; So we chose to focus on protecting our forest, protecting our environment while promoting sustainable sector-related activities throughout the country. We will be participating in the medium bands section this year. Also we understand that the country is moving towards a decade of development and with this decade will come a lot of sustainable development. We will have to conserve, develop and preserve our natural resources; our patrimony, for the benefit of all Guyanese.”
The band was launched at the National Exhibition Centre in Sophia under the theme, “Promoting sustainability and development. The designer for this band is Nelson Nurse.

The Ministry of Education’s band was launched at the National Sports Complex, under the theme “Promoting education through technology”. This year, the band comprises at least 300 revellers from the various sections of the ministry. This band also has Nurse as its designer. He noted that he was keeping simple, but playful with the design this year.
Minister of Education, Nicolette Henry, in her brief remarks, expressed that the band was even bigger than it was last year. “We usually host small bands on the road but this year we have a medium-sized band,” she said.
