WITH the clock rapidly counting down to the much anticipated first National Race of Champions, competitors are being asked to inspect their machines today.
According to reports, the team of scrutineers will be available to process and certify as safe all cars expected to race tomorrow.

According to Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) Committee Member Motilall Deodass, this move is to ensure as little trouble as possible moving into tomorrow’s opener.
“We want to have as many cars as possible scrutineered today to allow us to have a smoother race meeting on Sunday. If we can get at least 70-80% of the cars completed, then we think that it would make the team’s work a lot easier on Sunday.”

The committee member added, “We expect a large turnout of competitors come Sunday based on the feedback that the committee has been receiving.”

NEWBIES CAN HAVE A CHANCE
Meanwhile the club has also confirmed that in a bid to get even more persons involved in the sport, they will have several classes of street car races.
According to reports, the five-lap races will have the specific aim of allowing those who participate in the other forms of racing like drag and endurance to make their debuts in the small circuit sphere of things.

The GMR&SC had piloted the programme with the bikes, calling it the street-class bikes which allowed novice riders, once in possession of all their gear, to participate in a circuit race event.

Meanwhile the club has also confirmed that entry for spectators to the event will be free of cost with action expected in the Groups 2 to four as well as street and sport tuner and bikes.
