A 30-year-old woman is in police custody after she reportedly doused her lover with a pot of hot oil at her home at Lot 160 Gangaram Village, East Canje.

The injured man, Danny Vannooten called “Donavan”, 50, of Leopold Street, Georgetown is self-employed and shared a relationship with the woman for the past six months.

On Wednesday, at around 20:00hrs, following his arrival at his lover’s home, an argument erupted and the woman cuffed him about his body.

Even though he received several cuffs, he stayed quiet and went to sleep.

The following day, just after midday, he was seated in the living room when the woman began to verbally abuse him. Again, he ignored her and went to sleep.

According to Vannooten, while in the room, the woman entered with a pot of hot oil and poured it on his face, causing him to cry out in agony. Vannooten was taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he has been admitted a patient.

The alleged abuser was arrested and is assisting police with their investigations.
