CHIEF Magistrate Ann McLennan, on Monday December 9, 2019, granted a 21-year-old miner $150,000 bail, on an attempted murder charge.

Treshan Thomas of Baramita appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and was not required to plead to the indictable charge.

Particulars of the charge stated that, on December 2, 2019, at Baramita, he wounded Kevin David, with intent to commit murder.

Police Prosecutor, Gordon Mansfield, made no objection to bail and told the court that, on the day in question, Thomas and David were at a camp when they had a misunderstanding. Thomas then pulled out a knife and dealt David several stabs.
Mansfield added that David was picked up and rushed to the Baramita Hospital and was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. Thomas was arrested and later charged.

Magistrate McLennan granted Thomas $150,000 bail and ordered that he reports to the Baramita Police Station every Friday until the completion of the matter.
The matter was adjourned until February 4, 2020 and was transferred to Matthew’s Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
