A few hours after being involved in a motor vehicular accident along the East Canje roadway, motorcyclist Gurdatt Hemraj of Lot 20 Goed Bananen Land, Canje succumbed on Thursday afternoon at the New Amsterdam hospital.

The accident occurred just before noon on the Canefield Public Road, Canje, where motor car PLL 8511, owned and driven by Joseph Samaroo, a 22-year-old sales representative, collided with Hemraj, 49.

Police said that Hemraj was heading north along the western lane of the said public road while motor car # PLL 8511 was proceeding across the road from east to west into the western lane when they collided.

Hemraj fell on the road and received injuries about the body. The motorcyclist was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he regained consciousness while receiving treatment.

However, his condition subsequently worsened and he later succumbed. The driver of the car remains in police custody.
