Accident leaves motorcyclist with horrific injuries

A MAN may now lose his arm following a motorbike accident on Sunday around 17:00hrs at the intersection of Louisa Row and Norton Street which saw him colliding with a truck.
Eye-witnesses say that the rider of the bike, CJ 6144, was speeding along Norton Street when he collided into the rear of a Bakewell truck which had almost cleared crossing Norton Street along Louisa Row.

An individual who witnessed the accident told the newspaper that all that was left of the man’s arm was bone and that a car quickly took him to the hospital.
Meanwhile, driver of the truck GWW 6092, Shameer Khan said that although he is regretful of what occurred, he was in the right.

“I coming over; I done clear the corner and the man mek one speed. I was done till over here [over into Louisa Row] and blam! I tried to pull away the truck after I see he coming but it still happen,” said Khan, who has been driving for the Bakewell company for some eight years.

“I stopped the truck and I come out and I tried to assist him. I feel messed up. If there was anything else that I could do I would, but I can’t help it because I cleared already and I don’t know where this man came from speeding. Even if he brakes, he would have reached the truck.”

The bike, driven by the man, who is said to be in his forties, is commonly known as a ‘scrambler’.
Police were on the scene gathering information on the accident.
