Man sentenced for ‘break and entry’ and larceny

ON Friday August, 23, 2019, a young man, who pleaded guilty to the charges of break and entering and larceny, was sentenced to 18 months in prison by Senior Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ court.

It is alleged that, on August 18, 2019, on Church Street, Georgetown, Jamal David broke and entered the dwelling home of Ronell Franklin and stole $382,000 valued in items.

Police Prosecutor noted that, on the day in question, at approximately 15:00 hours, the virtual complainant secured her home and went to church. Upon returning to her home at 17:00 hours, she observed that her front door was open and discovered her items were missing.

With the help of a neighbour, David was seen on CCTV camera and was apprehended by the said neighbor. David admitted the crime and was handed over to the police.
Police Prosecutor noted that David is known to the court for similar offences.
