Prime Minister of Guyana the Honourable Moses Nagamootoo on Thursday celebrated Raksha Bandhan with Sister Jyotsna Patel from the Brahma Kumaris Raja Yoga Centre at his Official Residence.

The Prime Minister thanked the sisters of the Brahma Kumaris Raja Yoga Centre and noted that the occasion symbolises the potential to promote social cohesion, and a greater understanding of how other groups celebrate brotherhood and sisterhood.

Sister Jyotsna Patel, who is visiting Guyana from the United States, explained that the tying of the Rakhi (scared thread) on the wrist not only represents a sisterly and brotherly connection, but the bond of love which each person should have for the other. Mrs. Sita Narine and Mr. Stanley Singh of the Braham Kumaris, also attended the event.
