ACTING Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus on Wednesday sentenced Alexie Pickett to two and a half years’ imprisonment, along with a fine of $50,000 for drug trafficking.

Pickett, 32, a miner of Cane Grove, East Coast Demerara, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to the charge which read that, on June 9,2019 at Iruma Backdam, Mazaruni River, he trafficked  81 grammes of cannabis.

Police Prosecutor, Adduni Inniss told the court that Pickett was searched by the police and the suspected cannabis was found in a black plastic bag which was in his back pocket.
” I does sell it,” Pickett told the court, as he explained that his employer had given him the drugs to sell.
