A 35-year-old woman, who was nabbed by police, in Mahdia, with a quantity of cannabis hidden in a Kotex Panty liner box was, on Monday, June 10, 2019, remanded to prison on a drug trafficking charge.
Shaffen Donette of 111 Miles, Mahdia appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Particulars of the charge alleged that, on June 8, 2019, at 3 Miles, Mahdia, Donette had 220 grams of cannabis in her possession for the purpose of trafficking. Police Prosecutor Shellon Daniels told the court that, on the day in question, police in Mahdia, while conducting a stop and search exercise, intercepted a minibus in which Donette was traveling. However, nothing was found in the minibus and the ranks searched a handbag Donette had in her possession.
Prosecutor Daniels told the court that seven parcels of cannabis were found hidden inside of a Kotex Panty liner box which the accused had in her handbag.
