IRWIN Daniels was elected president of the Guyana Ex-police Association of America (GEPAOA) when that entity held its annual general meeting at its Brooklyn, New York headquarters recently.

Daniels replaced his former Police Finance Office colleague, Leroy Charles, whose successful tenure came to an end.

Conrad Semple will serve as the first vice-president, while the second vice-president is Gem Sampson. Others elected to the executive body were: secretary, Jacqueline McKinnon; treasurer, Margaret Lewis; assistant treasurer, Colin Griffith; correspondence secretary, Raymond Lyte; welfare officer, Joan Emannuel; sergeant at arms, Wade Cummings; parliamentarian, Leon Gibbons; and communications/public relations officer Michael Jones.

The two trustees are Cecil Williams and Frankie Softleigh.

The association, which was established in 1966, is celebrating its 53rd anniversary with a dinner and dance on Saturday, May 25, at Antun’s Banquet Hall, Queens, New York.

A contingent from the association is also scheduled to visit Guyana in July to share in the Guyana Police Force’s 180th anniversary celebrations.
