…Taxi driver shot, condition critical
THE police are investigating a shooting incident which occurred at D’Urban Street and Mandela Avenue on Thursday, April 25, 2019 and which left a taxi driver and a passer-by nursing gunshot injuries.
According to a police release, on the day in question, around 09:45hrs at the corner of D’Urban Street and Mandela Avenue, taxi driver Marlon Rodney, 35, of 71 Norton Street, Lodge, was involved in a heated argument with a man called ‘Dabo.’
An investigation revealed that Rodney left, but later returned to continue the argument with ‘Dabo’ along with another man called ‘Curl Up.’
It is alleged that both ‘Dabo’ and ‘Curl Up’ reportedly brandished handguns and reportedly discharged their weapons at Rodney, who was struck in the left leg.
A passer-by, Shaquille Dion, 24, and unemployed of 52 D’Urban Street, Lodge, was shot in his back.
Both Rodney and Dion were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital. Dion was discharged on Friday, April 26, 2019, but Rodney is still hospitalised and his condition is listed as critical.
A police investigation is in progress and no arrest has as yet been made.
