NINE beauties vying for the title of Miss Bartica Regatta 2019 were officially sashed on Saturday evening at the Bartica Community Centre Ground.
The pageant, which is slated tomorrow night, will see close competition, as all the beautiful contestants demonstrated competence and traits well deserving of the title.
Sabrina Persaud, Tonia Harris, Soma Lindore, Shania Khan, Amel Griffith, Tonesha DeWeever, Joyann Wong, Adeola Sutherland and Jerusha Ferell are the nine contestants.
Pageant trainer, Angelica Fredericks said that this is her fifth year working as the trainer of Miss Bartica Regatta Pageant delegates, and working this year is no different.
“I have grown to love these young ladies; they are working very hard and they are moving mountains,” she said.
The pageant is one of the most anticipated of the town’s tourism activities, since it showcases the wealth of talented young women Bartica has.
The queen will reign for one year as the ambassador for the ‘Green’ Town, and set a positive example for other young women in Bartica to follow.
It has been confirmed that this year’s winner of the Miss Regatta Pageant will receive $500,000 in cash, with the second place winner receiving $300,000, and third place receiving $100,000.
The cash prizes are separate from any other prizes that will be given out.
This year, the Bartica Mayor and Town Council had identified an organising committee, which promised to put on a production that will be bigger and better than the years before.
Reigning queen, Arian Richmond, will crown her successor tomorrow night.
