MARK Murray, a City Constabulary officer was yesterday (April 10, 2019), granted bail by city Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, following an alleged shooting of a minibus driver.

The 24-year-old defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge, which read that on September 26, 2018, at Water Street, Georgetown, he discharged a loaded firearm at Paul John with intent to disfigure, disable or cause actual bodily harm.

The father of one was represented by Attorney-at-law Roger Yearwood, who stated that his client is not a flight risk and was conducting his duties while in possession of a concealed firearm; however, there was no malicious intent. He also noted that Murray is the sole breadwinner for his family.

Reports are that Murray was conducting his regular duties when an argument ensued between the two and led to the unintentional shooting of John to his leg.
The prosecutor had no objections to bail and as such, the magistrate granted bail in the sum of $75,000. Murray will make his next court appearance on April 24, 2019.
