TOP schools from Regions Three and Four will battle in a One-day National Sports Commission-organised Clash of the Champions Day and Night Windball Cricket competition this Saturday at the National Gymnasium.

The competition, which will be the third for the term, comes after the Forbes Burnham Foundation, NSC, Al Sport and Tour Promotions 28th Annual Easter Term Schools Windball Cricket Championships and the NSC, Ministry of the Presidency (MoTP) -organised and sponsored Cheddi Jagan Memorial Windball Cricket Championships.

Organiser Alistair Munroe said that the top schools that took part in the recent competitions would be in action.
He said that Regions 5, 6 and 10 need not worry since another competition will be played for schools in those areas in the near future.

According to Munroe, windball continues to create a bond than transcends the action between the wickets.
“Over the last two competitions, we have seen a high level of sportsmanship from our schools. I think these tournaments transcend sports, they promote unity and harmony and we will do everything to keep that unity among our young Guyanese.”

In the Forbes Burnham Foundation competition, which was played a few weeks ago, Mae’s Schools (Secondary Division) won the male title, while Region Three winners, Zeeburg Secondary, were crowned female champions, while in the Cheddi Jagan Memorial competition, Carmel Secondary School female team and the Beterverwagting (BV) Secondary School male team were crowned champions.
