Van Lange, Thomas named in Guyana’s Junior & Cadet table tennis teams

THE Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) has named their junior and cadet squads for the 2019 Caribbean Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championship.

Following the National Junior Table Tennis championship, which was played on the weekend of March 1-3 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Guyana Table Tennis Association named Guyana’s national Junior and Cadet teams with a view of having Guyana represented at the Caribbean Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championship, scheduled for April 11-13 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The Caribbean Junior and Cadet Table Tennis championship engages players between 15 years and 18 years and under boys and girls. The championship will be used as the qualification event for the Pan American Junior and Cadet Table Tennis championship scheduled for June in Cancun, Mexico.

Guyana’s most formidable challenge will emerge from the U-15 Boys team who have an abundance of talent with young U-18 and U-15 champion Jonathan Van Lange as well as the immensely talented Kaysan Ninvalle, Isaiah Layne and Krystian Sahadeo.
There are some challenges with which the association will have to navigate in the Boys’ U-18 category given that most of the players are in the examination cycle.

The team will consist of 2018 U-18 champion Nickolous Romain, the talented and determined Jamal Nichols, Terrence Rausche, Niran Bissu and Yuedistir Persaud.
Newcomer Crystal Melville will be participating in the U-15 category after some impressive displays at recent local tournaments.
