Student gets 3 years for ecstasy

A SCHOOL of the Nations student was on Friday, February 22, 2019, sentenced to three years’ imprisonment and fined $30,000 for having ecstasy pills in his possession.
Larry John Adams, 21, made his appearance before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, and pleaded guilty to the charge.

Adams admitted that on February 20, 2019, at Princess Street, he had eight ecstasy pills, amounting to five grams, in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
“I does use it for my personal use,” Adams told the court as he explained the he did not want to waste the court’s time.

According to reports, on the day in question at about 21:00 hours, police on patrol stopped Adams while he was riding his motorcycle along Princess Street. A search was conducted on Adams and the drug was found in his pants pocket.
Magistrate Daly imposed, on Adams, the minimum of three years’ imprisonment and a fine of $30,000.
