A DESTRUCTIVE spell of off-spin bowling from former national U-19 cricketer, Kevin Sinclair, propelled the Rose Hall Town Pepsi team to a big win in their first game of the Berbice Cricket Board-organised Shimron Heymyer Intermediate Cricket Tournament in the Ancient County.

The 19-year-old, who is hoping to transition into the senior team, proved his capabilities when he took a career-best of 9-13 to humble the Kildonan Cricket Club on Sunday last in a Group C fixture of the competition at the Albion Sports Complex ground.

Rose Hall Town won the toss in a match reduced to 32 overs per side and raced to 226-4 with Kevin’s younger cousin, Junior Sinclair, stroking 62. Jonathan Rampersaud finished with 50, Kevlon Anderson with 34 and Shawn Pereira with 20 not out.

In reply, Kildonan struggled from ball one after Kevin opened the bowling, eventually being routed for 34 from 15.4 overs with the teen doing his damage in 7.1 overs. The bulk of his wickets came toward the end of his spell, but he was on target from ball one.

Sinclair told the Guyana Chronicle that the wicket was suitable for spin and had good bounce and turn.

The former Canje Secondary School student’s previous best was 7-3 vs Rosehall Canje in a BCB U-15 competition several years ago.

A number of other matches were played at various venues across Berbice.
