REGIONAL carrier Caribbean Airlines launched its newest corporate campaign, “The Caribbean Identity,” in Guyana with a massive show featuring soca giant Machel Montano.

The airline’s Chief Executive Officer Garvin Medera related that for 2019, the core message of the business will be centred on promoting the Caribbean identity.

“’The Caribbean Identity’ is the culture and the spirit of our many diverse nations-united by a shared sea and our similar and powerful heritage,” Medera said. “Through the Caribbean Identity, we will showcase the best of our Caribbean Region and reflect it across our airline identity, from our branding to our community activities, to our presence at festivals and major events.”

Offering brief remarks before the start of the highly anticipated show was Minister of Social Cohesion, Dr. George Norton.

“As Caribbean people we are much more similar than we are different,” Dr. Norton said, as he explained that there is a sense of oneness among Caribbean people.

“No matter where in the world we go… even if it’s back to our roots, we would still be our authentic Caribbean selves,” he affirmed.

In promoting the sense of the Caribbean Identity, soca giant Machel Montano feted the large crowd at the Stabroek Square. The ‘Monk’ was ably supported by local soca powerhouse, Timeka Marshall. Both artistes treated the crowd to their 2019 soca hits as well as their older fan favourites.

In addition to launching the new campaign, Caribbean Airlines announced that it is the official airline for Mashramani and then for the Guyana Carnival in May.

Importantly too, the airline has sponsored the famous local youth steel orchestra, the Parkside Steel Orchestra- which has now been renamed the Caribbean Airlines Parkside Steel Orchestra.
