TWO men, who were recently ‘busted’ by the police at the Square of the Revolution with an illegal firearm and ammunition, were on Friday slapped with two gun- related charges.

Lloyd Sadloo, a 37-year-old carpenter of Mocha, East Bank Demerara and Seon Bourne, a 24-year-old construction worker of High Street, Georgetown, were jointly charged and appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Particulars of the first charge alleged that, on January 7, 2019, at Vlissengen Road, Georgetown, the duo had a .38 pistol in their possession when they were not holders of a firearm licence.

It was further alleged that, on the same day and at the same location, the men had four rounds of .38 ammunition.

Sadloo and Bourne pleaded not guilty to the charges. They were represented by attorneys-at-law George Thomas and Adrian Thompson respectively.

Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh told the court that, on the day in question, the two defendants were apprehended in motor car PWW 5460 which was parked in front of the 1763 monument. The firearm and ammunition were found in the car. Both accused denied ownership of the items and were escorted to the Brickdam Police Station.

Singh, in his objection to bail, told the court that Bourne was wanted for robbery and simple larceny. Singh also pointed out that Sadloo, who was no stranger to the court, was currently out on bail for his alleged involvement in a Guy$2.4 million armed robbery. He (Sadloo) had also appealed a four- year sentence for cannabis trafficking.

The magistrate ruled in favour of the prosecutor and the two accused were remanded until the next hearing on February 15, 2019
