THE Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has trimmed 20 U15 cricketers off its short-listed squad of 50 in preparation for its first trial match, which is set for tomorrow (January 2).
The Ancient County cricketers are preparing for the Guyana Cricket Board U15 Inter-County tournament, which is scheduled for next month.

The original group of youngsters held practice sessions at the Albion Community Centre ground on Sunday and after much deliberation, their coach Leslie Solomon and selectors Collis Butts and Balram Samaroo decided on the most suitable 30 to continue training.
After tomorrow’s practice game at Albion, the players will meet again on Saturday (January 5) at the same venue for another clash.

According to information from the board, the players should be at the venue for 08:00h.
The 30-man squad include: Rampertab Ramnauth, Avishkar Persaud, Veer Farhad, Altaf Balman, Devon Sobhai, Ryan France, Tameshwar Mahadeo, Sanjay Algoo, Kelvin Samuels, Mark Ramdehol, Reyad Rahaman, Damieon Cecil, Romeo Deonarine, Justin Meghu, Boodram Lakeram, Civian Arokium, Matthew Pottaya, Tuvraj Shaundeo, Kumar Deopersaud, Bhaskar Dhanai, Isiah Thorne, Niquan Samuel, Duncan Douglas, Christopher Deroop, Shiv Harripersaud, Abdul Munroe, Tyrese Phillips, Romario Ramdehol, Dwayne Williams and Salim Khan.

U19 TRIALS
Meanwhile the BCB will use the open rounds of the 2019 New York Business Group U19 tournament to short-list a squad of 30 for the upcoming GCB U19 tournament.
Players will be selected via their performances in the first two rounds (14 games) that are scheduled for this Thursday and Friday.

On Thursday, Blairmont will travel to the D. Edwards ground to challenge the home team. Also hosting will be Edinburg (who will face Tucber Park), Paradise (against Achievers), Mt. Sanai (against RH Canje), Albion A (against Rose Hall Town B), Port Mourant CC (against RHT A team) and No 73 (against Albion B).

The competition continues on Friday with another seven games.
