Luck was on the side of  former headmaster of the Johanna Cecila Secondary School Guptie Narine, who escaped unhurt after the car he was driving turned turtle and crashed into a resident’s yard at Zorg on the Essequibo Coast on Wednesday.
The  accident occurred around 17:00hrs. Narine sustained a few scratches about his body.
According to information received, the man was heading home when he lost control of his car. The vehicle first hit an electrical pole before slamming into the resident’s yard.
After hearing the impact, residents immediately rushed to the scene and officials attached to the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) later visited the scene and assessed the damages.
The area was plunged into darkness. GPL personnel said that they are working to restore power in the area. Police are investigating the incident.
