31 detained in early morning police operation

Police detained 31 persons on Sunday morning while conducting a number of cordon and  search exercises in “A” and “D” Division under “Operation Restore Order”.

The operations were conducted in the villages of Kaneville and Diamond on the East Bank of Demerara and Westminster and La Grange on the West Bank of Demerara. It involved more than one hundred and ninety ranks inclusive of a number of Senior Officers.

Three females are among those detained in connections with various Offences ,including possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking, robbery under arms  as well as unlawful possession and wounding.

A number of items, including two flat screen television sets, fifteen mobile phones, a Motorola handset, a Toshiba laptop, one thousand five hundred grams of cannabis a toy gun and G$207,740 were among the items seized during the operations.

The exercises were incident free.
