THE Guyana Police Force in collaboration with the Fallen Heroes Foundation (FHF) has given financial assistance to the families of ranks who died in the line of duty, in keeping with its mandate to support the families of fallen heroes.

Deputy Commissioner Paul Williams, who distributed the cheques, stated that the administration of the force was very pleased with the performance of the FHF initiative and praised the work of members of the Foundation.

“What we hope to see as we proceed is that the children who benefit will continue to have their eyes on the prize and that the parents continue to ensure that they [the children], understand what it is to be of good character, essential qualities of any good citizen.”

The deputy commissioner, who previously served as the force’s training officer, expressed strongly the need for children to be brought up in families where love abounds.

He further asserted that the good impact of any organisation depends strongly on the characters and qualities of the people of that organisation. In that respect, he urged the mothers to continue to strive to raise their children in a respectable manner, despite the fact that their fathers have departed.

Fallen Heroes Foundation President Dr Raphael Massiah, noted that the organisation has grown significantly over the years and stressed the need for continued support for the families of those ranks who had died in the line of duty.

Meanwhile, in its continuing efforts to build partnership with all stakeholders, the Guyana Police Force Traffic Department held a much-needed training programme on Defensive Driving for drivers of the Guyana Revenue Authority.

The session, which lasted for almost four hours, was done via a PowerPoint presentation at the Guyana Revenue Authority Training Centre, which is located inside the building that housed the Guyana Post Office Corporation. Traffic Chief, Superintendent Linden Isles and Inspector Raun Clarke were the presenters.
